Balangir is also known as the cultural Hun of Western Odisha. It is decided into 21 wards, which is spread over an area of 12,200 acres.

There are verities of language spoken by the locals those are Koshli,Odia,English and much more.
The Balangir district is named after it's head quarter town Balangir.it was formed on the First of January in 1948.
The most famous temples of Balangir district are Someswar Siva temple,64 Yoginis temple which is at Ranipur jharial in Bangomunda block.

Fairs and festivals 

Just like Unity in diversity in Balangir there are many festivals like Rath yatra which is world famous in Puri which is the most beautiful part of eastern Odisha.more festivals like Patkhanda yatra,dhanu yatra,Ram Lila, Sheetal shasti,Gaja Laxmi puja etc are some of the most beautiful festivals observed in Balangir.

Nuakhai


Nuakhai is the most popular and the most important festival of Western Odisha,Apart from this festivals like Bhaijintia,puojintia,puspuni we're also observed in nook and the corner of Balangir district.

Folk dance and songs

Dalkhai, rasarkeli and Mailajada are the most important folk dance form of Western culture,apart from these forms Nachnia, bangri,danda,khuda,ghubukuda are also the famous Western folk dance and songs.

Koshal kalamandal

Koshal kalamandal was established by Sri Rajendra Narayan Sinhg Deo in the year 1940.it was established for the aim of promotion of dance and Balangirs tradition and culture.
Throughout the year Dance,Music and drama we're organized by the district government for the entertainment purpose of general public.
